ANIMAL CARETAKER
The compassionate presence of these professionals help ease the experience of a visit to the vet for pets and pet owners alike. Veterinary Assistants assist the veterinarian with every aspect of animal care, and also help manage pet owners’ questions and concerns. Veterinary assistants are responsible for keeping the animals clean and safe. They bathe pets, clean and disinfect animal cages, and make sure the overnighters feel at home and also perform daily care-taking tasks such as feeding and weighing animals.

In addition to the animal care they provide, Veterinary Assistants also assist pet owners. They are often the first point of contact for clients, and as such set the tone for their experience. There is an abundance of growth to be gained from this position.

It is helpful to be in good physical shape in order to effectively lift, move or restrain patients as needed. The ability to focus and stay on task in a loud environment is also helpful, as other animals in the facility can become quite noisy.

RECEPTIONISTS
As a Receptionist, first impressions are the most important so you must always be polite and have a smile on your face. Learning customers and patients by their name is the perfect way to make sure they have a great experience and want to come back. You are the first and last person they see when coming through our doors. You will be responsible for daily tasks such as calling customers, answering a multi-line phone system, navigating our Avimark computer program, filing, preparation and maintenance of medical records and also financial transactions. Receptionist will also learn and understand the basics of each of the other positions and how the hospital runs.

VETERINARY TECHNICIANS
A veterinary technician works directly under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. You are a vital role in the everyday functions of the hospital because you have to communicate with Receptionist, Assistants, the Veterinarians and the Clients on a daily basis. You will encompass a wide variety of tasks like assisting in exam rooms and surgery, observing patients for behavior changes, giving nursing care to the sick ones, collecting and testing lab samples, and maintaining patient records.

Compassion is a must because you will work in close proximity with patients and their owners and will be responsible for answering any questions they may have and making the owners feel great and proud for choosing to bring their pet to us.
